REOPEN AAUA: LETTER FROM OMOBORIOWO OLUWATOSIN TO GOV. ROTIMI AKEREDOLU

    REOPEN AAUA

    FROM :
    OMOBORIOWO OLUWATOSIN
    PKA PROF ORUBEBE
FACULTY OF SOCIAL AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCE,
    ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY AKUNGBA,
    ONDO STATE.

    TO:
    GOVERNOR ROTIMI AKEREDOLU.

Sir, At the time of enrolling into Aaua, We were imbued with hopes of attaining greatness and the ecstatic feeling of actualising our aspirations was buzzing inside us with unusual enthusiasm. Things have indeed changed! Today, the feeling has turned awry as life at the university is proving to be more and more unfriendly, like infamous relationship between human skin and thorns. We are yet to recover from the brutal shock that hit us In the wake of the university`s ill-informed decision to hike our fees without any compunction.

Majority of my fellow aauaite are in school awaiting the management to declare the resumption date. This indefinite break has been dwindling the academic performances of the students. As learning is being suspended for a long period, the students reading abilities fall. Even the knowledge acquired during the learning period is even forgotten by some students. This mostly turns some students into certificate seekers than knowledge seekers. The ongoing indefinite break is distorting the school calendar. The after-effect is prolonged school year that exceeds stipulated periods. Most academic activities for the school year are distorting. This is one of the major cause of producing unqualified graduates who are deficient in the fields of study. In thesame vein, students who are suppose to do a four years course end up spending six years in the school for a simple programme.

The decision on hike in school fee is not only callous ; It is also a testimony to the fact that university prioritizes financial gains to academic excellence. And this, quite obviously, leaves the future of the university and its students in a very precarious state. At a time when the university is still embroiled in a big struggle to meet the pressing needs of its students, one would have thought that developing infrastructure for sound learning environment is governor goal. But the latest move by the university has proven that such plans are out of thought. So sir, rather than resorting to fee hiking, we aauaite are of opinion that tackling those shortcomings that besetting the institution would have be more productive.

On this note i OMOBORIOWO OLUWATOSIN implore mr governor to restore our famous aaua status as best university....

REOPEN AAUA, NO HIKE IN SCHOOL FEES, AAUA MUST RESUME.
