Press conferences can often be routine for Premier League managers but Antonio Conte received a surprise phone call as the Chelsea boss previewed his club’s trip to Burnley, SkySports reports.

Chelsea will aim to maintain their faint hopes of a spot in the top four and Champions League football next season when they meet Sean Dyche's Clarets on Thursday.

Marcos Alonso, named in the PFA's Premier League Team of the Year, is likely to miss the encounter at Turf Moor after he was handed a violent conduct charge by the FA on Tuesday and midway through an answer on the full back's availability Conte's phone began to ring.

Conte quickly admitted that the caller was his wife as the attending media and the Italian saw the funny side of the interruption.

"It was my wife. Always in the worst moment. I'm sorry," Conte said.

"You can give me a fine! I'm sorry because I would be annoyed if it happened to one of you."
