    Police raid Enugu secret cult hideout, nabs 25 suspects

    The police Command in Enugu state have reiterated its readiness not to rest on its oars in the campaign and onslaught against cultism and other vices amongst youth in the state for a safe and secure environment.
    To this end, the operatives of the anti-cultism unit of the Enugu state police command through intelligence information have raided Obeagu Amechi Awkunanaw bush where youth numbering about twenty-five in number were arrested for cult-related activities. 
    The suspected cult groups were from within the South-East region having gathered for their initiation activities into membership of Black Axe Ayes confraternity.
    During the well-coordinated raid which took place inside the bush behind centenary city Awkunanaw, suspects were promptly apprehended.
    According to a statement signed by the Enugu state police command image maker, SP, Ebere Amaraizu, they comprise of students of some notable polytechnics, universities and secondary schools within the South East as well as few artisans and workers from various companies in the state.
    Recovered from the suspects inside the bush includes a locally made single barrel pistol, a locally made cut to size single barrel gun, four live cartridges and six expended cartridges.
    The suspects, according to Amaraizu, now helping the operatives in their investigations in relation to their cult related activities amongst others. Some of them, who spoke, appealed for second time to be given as they allegedly got involved out of ignorance, pointing out that they are regretting why they should abandon their handiwork and studies in pursuit of membership of secret cult.
    They maintained that following various counselling and admonitions, that they have come to realise that cultism is evil hence they promised not to get involved again if left off the hook.
    In another development, suspected fraudsters who specializes in swindling their unsuspecting victims of money and valuables, have been nabbed by the operatives of the Anti Cultism Unit of the Enugu state police command. The Suspects who gave their names as one Akin Ogunsemi and Shina Fatola, all hails from Ijebu -Igbo in Ogun state.
    The syndicates were apprehended at Ukwuoji axis of Emene area of the state by the operatives acting on intelligent information. It was however gathered that the suspects who are alleged fraudsters usually masquerade as herbalist to swindle their victims of some amount of money and other valuables.
    Recovered from the suspects includes Fake currencies of some countries and some Juju box and other suspected Shrine materials. They are helping the operatives in their investigations.
